Samsung has been a long time member of The Open Handset Alliance so we've been expecting an Android phone from them for some time now. After a few false starts, O2 Germany finally announced that they would be launching the I7500 in June 2009, officially making this Samsung's first Android phone, and for Android fans, what a phone it's turned out to be (assuming you're not fixed on having a physical keyboard that is).

HTC Magic

HTC Magic

In yet another coup for HTC, the world's second Android-compatible phone was officially announced at the 2009 Mobile World Congress, this time in partnership with Vodafone. Although not a major departure from the design of the HTC Dream, this latest phone is slimmer and lighter thanks to the exclusion of a QWERTY keyboard. The HTC Magic will be available across Europe from April.

HTC Dream

HTC Dream / T-Mobile G1

Launched in October 2008, the HTC Dream was the world's first Android-compatible phone. Released exclusively by T-Mobile as the G1, this phone has proven to be hugely popular and according to a recent report, now accounts for 20% of T-Mobile UK's contract sales. Expect to see this phone expanding into other regions in 2009, starting with France where it is expected to be released by Orange as the Orange Dream.
